WHY WE LIKE GERBER LIFE

A familiar name.
Details worth understanding.

The Gerber Life Grow-Up® Plan is whole life insurance for a child. Here are three things to know before choosing a policy.

01

Protection that can last.

Coverage can stay in place for life when required premiums are paid. Review the price and payment rules before you start.

02

A benefit that grows.

Newer policies double the coverage amount on the policy anniversary after age 18, without increasing the original premium. Confirm the terms of the policy offered.

03

Value built over time.

The policy builds cash value gradually. This is life insurance, and cash value is different from the amount paid for a covered death.

FROM ONE FAMILY TO ANOTHER

It starts with love.
And a few good questions.

As a father of two, Timmy understands how much changes when your family grows. A conversation about coverage should leave you feeling informed, with room to decide.

  • What monthly payment can we comfortably keep?
  • Who will own the policy now and later?
  • What benefits are guaranteed, and what limits apply?
  • How does this fit alongside coverage for the adults in our family?

When can a child apply?

Gerber’s consumer brochure lists the Grow-Up Plan for ages 14 days through 14 years. Ask Timmy to confirm the current product for your child’s age and state. This children’s policy uses an application and insurer review; acceptance is not guaranteed.

Can grandparents apply?

Yes. Gerber accepts applications from parents, grandparents, and permanent legal guardians. A parent’s signature may be needed under state rules. Ownership generally transfers to the insured child at age 21.

Is cash value the same as the coverage amount?

No. The death benefit is the amount payable for a covered death. Cash value is a separate amount that takes time to build. Loans charge interest and reduce policy values and benefits. Surrendering the policy ends coverage.

Can my child buy more coverage later?

Ask about the Guaranteed Purchase Option Rider. Eligible policies offer specific opportunities to buy more coverage under its rules. Rider premiums and limits apply, and added insurance requires added premiums. It is not unlimited coverage at no extra cost.

Should I protect myself as a parent, too?

Look at the whole family picture. Children depend on the income and care adults provide. We can discuss adult coverage, a child’s policy, and a payment you can keep up with. A child’s policy does not replace protection for a parent or caregiver.

LET’S TAKE ONE SIMPLE STEP

Tell Timmy what you’re exploring.

Start with your contact details and a general question. Please leave children’s full names, birth dates, health details, and documents out of website inquiries and texts. Timmy can explain the insurer’s secure application process when you are ready.

General education from Legacy Financial Group · Updated October 8, 2026. We are an insurance agency, not Gerber Life Insurance Company. Gerber Life issues its policies. Availability, eligibility, riders, and benefits depend on the product and state; the issued policy controls. Our preference for Gerber Life is not a recommendation for every family.
